Ambitions First Education runs early learning and development sessions for young children, built around play-based activities and guided support.
Our Approach, in Plain Terms
Early learning is not a race and it is not a curriculum delivered from the front of a room. For the age group we work with, it is mostly a matter of giving children something worth being curious about, an adult who notices what they are doing, and enough time to try it more than once. That is what our sessions are built around, and it shapes three practical decisions.
Children are grouped by stage, not by birthday
A child who has just turned three and a child who is nearly four can be at very different points. We group by what a child can do and what they are ready for, and we move them when they are ready rather than on a set date.
The same practitioners, week after week
Familiar adults are the single biggest factor in how quickly a young child settles. The team working with a group stays with that group, so nobody has to start again each week.
Play is the method, not the reward
Play is how children of this age learn to talk, to negotiate, to concentrate and to solve problems. Our planning starts with an activity worth playing with, and the learning is what happens inside it — not a worksheet that follows afterwards.
Our Team and Safeguarding
Every member of the team has experience of working with young children, and training records are kept on site. We will happily talk through the team’s experience and training with you when you visit, and answer anything you want to ask about how the room is run.
- Children are signed in and out by a named adult, and we only release a child to someone you have told us about in advance.
- Emergency contact, allergy and medical notes are held for each child, provided by you, and checked with you each term.
- Rooms are set up and checked before each session, including the outdoor space and the resources children can reach.
- Two adults are present for every group session, and drop-in sessions are attended by the grown-up who brings the child.
- We ask for separate, specific consent before any photograph of a child is taken or used.
